Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script. A copy of the script is available for perusal at the reference desk at Daniel Boone Regional Library.

Synopsis: Playwright Jeffrey Hatcher takes Arthur Conan Doyle’s famous characters and drops them into a story inspired by Robert Louis Stevenson’s novella The Suicide Club to create a thrilling whodunit mystery that comes complete with a wow-I-didn’t-see-that-coming ending! In the heart of London, behind the impassive facade of a windowless house, some of Europe’s most powerful men gather to play a game. The game is murder, and this is The Suicide Club. But the club has a new member, Sherlock Holmes: brilliant, brooding, the greatest detective in the world. Why does Holmes wish to die? Can his friend Dr. Watson save him? Or doesn’t Holmes want to be saved? Come audition !!

Character Descriptions: Please note that the age ranges below are being used as guidelines. We may cast people that fall out of the age range for each character as long as they are able to appear to be the given age…

Sherlock Holmes: Sharp & deliberate. 50-60Dr John Watson: Fiercely loyal to Sherlock. 55-65.

Prince Nikita Starloff: Handsome, charming, confident-Russian accent. 30-40.

Christiane De LaBegassier: Beautiful, spirited, flamboyant, French accent – love interest to the prince.25-40

Club Secretary: Secretary of The Suicide Club-Charismatic, forceful. 35-50.


Mr. Williams: Member of the Suicide Club-Talkative – can come across almost comical plus Mr.Roundy: A pharmacist-Unassuming and naive.Late 20’s/30’s.Mr Richards: Member of the Suicide Club – Well groomed English gentleman plus Mycroft Holmes: Elder brother of Sherlock Holmes & part of British intelligence. Late 50’s/65.

Mr. George: Member of the Suicide Club – Imposing German plus Inspector Micklewhite: An English inspector. 40’s/50’s.

Mr. Henry: Member of the Suicide Club – Frail old man in a wheel chair plus AC Crosse: A Murder victim (AC Crosse has no lines) 60’s/70’s

Mrs Hudson: Holmes’ housekeeper who complains quite a bit plus Old Lady: A witness at a crime scene. Pretentious & a bit of a hag. 45-60.

Lucy O’Malley: A London streetwalker. Shabby plus Magician’s Assistant: A beautiful assistant to a magician (magicians assistant has no lines) 20’s/30’s
